In 2008 Eric Sol published his 'Faux Absolute Positioning' layout technique, combining the best of float and absolute positioning based techniques. I liked the technique immediately when I heard of it and was able to use it in a page-builder project at imedo.

The fapulous framework is based on this technique. I know, the name sounds a little bit disreputable, but FAP is the abbreviation for 'Faux Absolute Positioning' and I simply combined it with 'fabulous'. Then I noticed it later (hey, in my defense: I'm not a native English speaker). But anyway, it was kind of funny so I left the name as it was.

This framework was still used at semigator long after I left there. But the frontend colleagues asked me for documentation later, so I made this website.
