I had a few breeder sites up and running, but they were all pretty separate from each other. The dog people are a social people and so I recognized the need for a meeting place where they could exchange with each other.

There were already some dog forums in the WWW, but most of them were toxic. There was envy, verbal fights and hard discussions. Like today on Twitter & Co.

The only remedy was objectivity and a higher intellectual level, which could only come from experts and breeders. So I opened a forum, invited all breeders and offered additional services, such as a one-page website for breeders and owners who could not afford a complete weblog installation. But the core was the forum, which grew steadily. In the end I stopped all extra services and concentrated everything on the forum until I offered it for sale in 2004.
